im looking for front & rear backup iron sights for my dpms oracle. ive read that the front sight needs to be gas block height. the only ones ive seen are by troy and midwest industries (i dont count the cheapy brands). which one would you go with? are there any other quality options i should consider as well? if i buy a troy front sight should i buy a rear sight from the same manufacturer or can i mix&match?

i recommend the standard M4 troy sights or the KAC 300m. i have used many buis and those two are my favorites however the cheap mbus are not bad either

I used the midwest for front and back on my Oracle. Worked really good, solid sights for the money. One thing to remember- Don't put a plastic (magpul) sight on the gas block, even if it is the right height or you'll end up melting it.

i noticed the midwest is quite a bit lower in cost and i read somewhere that it may even be built better than the troy. what do you have for your rear sight? i may get a midwest rear sight as well if i get their front sight.

Are you going with just irons?
If so I'd do Midwest front and rear, they make great sights. If you're not running irons exclusively, spend the $180 on a RedDot like a Sparc. Or a scope: my Leupold Mark AR was $380, so you're halfway to that.
If you're thinking just as BUIS in case your main optic goes down - just grab another rifle to take out the zombie horde with. It's a $600 rifle, don't invest $200 in flip up sights, spend the money on an optic that can be moved to another platform if you decide to sell. - just my opinion.

i have a bushnell trs-25 on it right now. should i just save the money and put it towards ammo instead?

I was using Midwest front and rear, happy with both.
I am actually replacing them right now with fixed sights because I don't use any other optic. I would be willing to sell you my set if your interested, send me a PM and we can work out details if you like.
