Bul m-5

Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience or views about the BUL M-5. Im Currently Looking for a 1911 with a double stack and on paper these pistols sound very good, not to mention the price for a brand new once is very competitive to say the least. I'm not sure what to think about the polymer and how it will feel balance wise.

Anyways any feedback would be much appreciated.

Sneeker.

^ search feature is TOTALLY messed up. the "find post with at most / at least X replies" is totally messed up and basically backwards, and it's VERY annoying that the search always reverts to just one week of info.

basically, yeah, it works, IF you leave half the settings at what seem to be the wrong settings, and change the timeframe to suit.

If it helps I fondled one at a gunshow. Seemed very solid and the grip felt great to me. I wanted one of the ultra x models in 9mm but they have never been available since they sold out.
I don't know if there are other mags that will fit but if not I'd be worried about getting them.

as alternatives, there's the Norinco NP-30 and Para P14-45 - both fat grip double-stacks derived from a 1911.

Yes that is a huge help! I am concerned about how 1911 it will feel because the change in materials.

I am very interested in the Para's, but I dont know much about the Norinco's other then they are norinco's. How's the quality on the norinco's? I guess another option would be the STI 2011's.

Thanks for the heads up on the Search function I tried the search before but got nothing, changed the Search to 36 months and still nothing. Must be doing something wrong. Been around forums for a bit and that advanced search has always been beyond me.

The search I posted consisted of the word "bul" and changing the timeframe to 36 months. Don't try to get too fancy when searching or it won't work very well.

I checked your link you provided and it said there were no matches found... Weird. But I did refine the search to BUL and it came up with a bunch thanks.:dancingbanana:

Did you dry fire it? How was the trigger?

OK fine,
free advice on the internet is often worth less than you paid for it,
however,
the opinion below is based on my personal experience,

I have owned over 100 Colt type Govt model pistols,
I shot IPSC for over a decade with these types,
and worked on a couple hundred more for paying customers as a professional gunsmith.

I have owned a Bul M5,
and
IF THEY FIT YOUR HANDS,
I consider the BUL pistols as one of the best VALUES available in a Colt type pistol.

If I was going to get another Colt Type .45 ACP pistol,
it would be a BUL M5.

But these days, I prefer the Glocks,
OF COURSE,
YPMMV,
