Buldged barrel advice

My son buldged the barrel on his Weatherby SA-08 12 guage. Shooting Steel BB through a full choke. My question is, now what? Toss it, replace barrel, cut it off, cut and rethread? It bulged right before the choke. I will not use it like this...just wanting to know what others would do.

If you get it cut off before the bulge you should end up with a modified choke which I think is what you need. Done right it should not cost you a lot and in the end if you want to shoot steel in a full choke gun you need to do it anyway.

You can definitely cut the barrel, but I dont believe you will end up with a modified fixed choke. I believe if you cut the barrel before the choke, you most certainly end up with a cylinder choke

I will cut it down....nothing to loose. Then measure it to see what choke it is...then see if I have enough material to rethread in the future. Thanks guys

Yes cutting off all f the bulge will likely leave a cylinder bore.

I for one would never use a distorted barrel... Way cheaper too buy a new gun or barrel then dicking around imo

I would not cut it.Let someone who installs choke tubes have a look at it. They will know where to cut to ensure new tubes can be fitted.
What do you have to lose IMO only the gun since it will be useless with a cut off cylinder choke and I would say another barrel will be hard to pick up if not costly

New barrel cost about the same as I paid for the gun a few years ago. Found a local smith that is going to have a look at it...either to just cut it down or install threads.... having a hard time posting pic of damage, I will as soon as I figure it out
