It looks like there is still a chance to get in last-minute orders. I just saw an FB post by Firearms Outlet that they'll be suspending ops as of Wednesday but that online orders will be shipped out as long as they're placed no later than 14:00 tomorrow.

Will these companies still be shipping stuff out for those 14 days you think? I've got orders in and my fingers are crossed. People can't shop there but when businesses are closed, does that mean they're completely closed or just to the public?

I hope so badly...have 2k rounds of 9mm I got from Tenda for a great bulk deal waiting on their 14 days delayed shipping because of the apocalypse there....
7 days in now and no comms on order being shipped. I'm really hoping they will ship the orders placed before the panicky business shut downs were forced.

From the sound of things the shutdown does not apply to online/e-commerce - so, it should be possible for retailers to handle orders. But, it would appear many if not most retailers have decided to completely shutdown for two weeks; which will further contribute to the backlogs and general insanity...

I hate to sound like a calm relaxed person here, but has anyone actually compared the impact to the countries economy and the potential financial ruin to millions of Canadians from these measures to the actual potential threat in general?
How much effect does shutting down all business by force really have with combatting this virus? What are the long term implications to our nation because of this compared to how much effect if any it will really have?
Maybe it's just me here I dont know......

Can't say I've seen anything concrete, economy-wise, but the estimates from the WHO were pretty damning. If you do absolutely nothing, and let this virus run rampant (which it will, if you do nothing) then you can expect 70% of the world population to be infected by years end.

Just ball park numbers, but say 7 Billion people - 70% would be 4.9 Billion infected, of which say approximately 1% fatalities - 49 Million dead by years end. That would overwhelm every nations medical system, including ones that actually have a capable medical system. The economic damage would be staggering, possibly even the sort of thing that would result in quite a nasty situation around the globe what with that many deaths, so on and so forth. Not a situation one can consider lightly...

So, if nations do take action to try and slow the spread of the virus it will have a marked impact on "freedoms" and certainly impact the global economy - but in a much lesser sense than letting it go wild.

As an aside, 50 million dead is the bottom end of the estimates for the death toll as a result of the Spanish Flu (H1N1) pandemic - the top end is/was 100 Million plus.
