Bulk .303 british / 30-06

I was thinking India may..... I have seen a few news reports from time to time and it looks like some of their police still have some pretty old hard wear . I could have sworn during some footage of that Mumbai attack a few years ago it looked like two police were sharing one bolt action in one of the clips .

A lot of India's police are equipped with SMLE rifles, but probably most are 7.62NATO. Their Rifle Factory Ishapore (RFI) made them that way from the early 1960s to approx. mid 1970s. They have sold at least some of these rifles (their designation is 2A and 2A1) as surplus so that suggests any of the earlier .303British calibre would have been disposed of prior to that, and thus they wouldn't keep a stock of .303Br ammo. But you never know...

Pakistan Ordnance Factory (POF) continued to produce the No.4Mk2 in .303British for a long time after they acquired the design and tooling from ROF Faz when the U.K. stopped manufacturing, and these have showed up surplus here quite some time after the Indian .308 SMLEs, so maybe Pakistan also kept stocks of .303British ammo later than India, but Pakistani ammo that reached the civilian market had a patchy reputation.

Oh they still make it lol I've seen crates of it with 2010 lot productions of it.
Something like 800 rounds in a crate.......it's the only thing holding me back from buying an Enfield :(

As long as the CF issues .303British to the Rangers it will be in the procurement system, but I'm sure they have a pretty good idea of their consumption rate and it won't be surplus before they replace the No.4 rifles.

I acquired a thousand IVI cases* once-fired for reloading some years ago and am not even into them yet, so I don't think I'll buy steel-cased Norinco ammo. Yet.

* A thousand individual cartridge cases, not a thousand cases of cartridges, so no, I won't sell any.

Build your own.

The Sierra Pro hunter .303 cal .311 DIA is a flat base hunting bullett. #2310 The Sierra 5 th edition reloading manual has a good section on the .303. I found a old Speer #11 manual has a section on the .303 also. I use 40 grains of IMR 4895 with a 3.01 OAL. Mild load for a old gun. A good start until CA brings in some surp!!!!

Man when I started this thread, I was expecting to get flamed big time! Great to see there is actually a demand for the ammo, and not just me!

There is huge demand, especially for the 303. My local store brings in cases upon cases of Prvi, and even with most guys reloading (like madmen) it still never hangs around long. Not only would I buy steel case, if it were available I'd buy a drum of Prvi brass. I have shot IVI ball, the stuff I got was nice, shot to point of aim at short(ish) range (300) but I've heard it can be hit and miss for quality.

I would pay more for boxer-primed brass!
We sell that now. Made by prvi, cheapest brass cased 303 on the market

You guys need to realize, the cost of making new ammo is mostly materials, not labour. So making it in china does not save much.

The days of cheap 303, etc ammo are gone.

You are right however steel case and half + or - than Privi would be a bargain.

Yeah! I need that and a case of .41 Vetterli rimfire.
.

Good call! I have an all-original Swiss Vetterli that I havent yet fired.

Dig a little deeper, Chris! I know that stuff is out there somewhere, tucked away in a foreign warehouse somewhere.

I sure could use some 8x50r Lebel for my Berthier. May have to resort to reloading a few just to try it out for the first time.

The privi is good ammo but it could be 1000 times better with a flat, open base 174grn bullet. If you could get them to produce such a bullet separately at a price of less than $25 per 100, you would not be able to keep them in stock. I am sick of trying to get hunting bullets to work in my milsurps.

I think I will pass on the .303 surplus! My only .303 calibre rifle is a American made P14. Made in America for England during WW I. So almost a 100 yrs. old. Still shoots but I use mild Sierre 180"s. After america entered the war they started making the P17 in 30-06 for the U.S. army. If only these guns could talk!!!!!!!!!

Umm you do realize that is the strongest rifle/action ever made. Ever. Ever...

What am I the only one looking for 8mm mauser in light and heavy ball? For less than a buck and a half per round that is.
