I am wanting to buy some surplus or bulk ammo in .308 win. So far in my search I've realized the selection in this caliber isn't so great. I've managed to track down some Russian and some Chinese. Can anyone tell me which one of the two is better? Are any corrosive or otherwise bad on your gun?

Can anyone also direct me to some stores which may offer a different selection or better price on this ammo?

Thanks in advanced for your responses!

Thanks for your response. I did see that, but do you think $350 for 500 rounds is a good of a deal? I'm a newbie to the .308 shooting so I really don't know whats good and whats not.

It just seems kind of high, thats $0.70 a shot for surplus?

Its a good deal for new manufacture (not surplus).
It terms of how it compares to the Hirtenberger stuff or Norinco I don't really know.

I have had some problems with a siTe sponsor, made in rUssia, steeL cAsed... I'm sure you can figure out which one.
Both times the rounds seemed to be over-charged resulting in a massive boom, smoke and cases stuck in the chamber of both an AR-style 308 and a bolt action. The rim of the cartridge broke right off.
Their product is cheap per round but quality control/safety seems to be an issue.

Just my $0.02

Hirtenberger surplus is just about the best for quality and consistency. Price is pretty good too. Marstar sometimes has a deal on case lots with free shipping.

China stuff is 2 MOA in my TRG22 vs. 1/2MOA for handloads. China stuff is great for m305, clay pigeons and for warming up my TRG barrel.

Any reason you had to cleverly hide the name TULA in caps???

70 cents is about as cheap as you're going to get it now. I think the norinco supply at 50 cents a round has dried up

How about Barnaul .308? seems kind of cheap. Non-corrosive and made in Russia? Anyone have good/bad things to say about this ammo?

I do not enjoy Barnaul ammo but my opinion is subjective. With that being said, there are a lot of negative Barnaul reviews on CGN as well.

The PMC at Canada Ammo is new production and honestly about as lowly priced as I've seen new production .308 for a while. The stuff that Johnone brought in (surplus) is widely reviewed as high quality but I've not shot it personally.

I've shot PMC in 5.56, 308, 9mm, and 45 acp and did feel happy with my purchase in the end. For what it's worth, I've just recently ordered some new PMC but I'm also trying to find a way to grab a case or two from John.
