Hi there,

Not sure what kind of response I'll get but this is a serious question.

How many cases would one have to buy in order to get a substantial deal? Say 2 3/4 #3 or what have you. I would really like to cut the middleman out but I could ask my LGS.

I'm usually very successful at finding prices below retail. But being new to this hobby, I'm having a hell of a time with ammo/firearms. Any tips?

Both Tradex and Canada Ammo will start offering discounts on orders of 10 cases or more of surplus ammo, so I would expect similar quantities of shotshells. The only way to know is to ask your supplier and see what they say. As for cutting the middleman out, you would need to be ordering truckloads to buy from a wholesaler and they may not sell to private individuals for any quantity.

I buy my shotgun ammo from a local "small scale" importer (15-20 pallets/yr). His bulk price starts at 10 flats, but the biggest driver is his cost. He will sometimes let us buy using US funds as all of his purchases are in US funds; which can be good or bad depending on the dollar.
