bulk powder purchase question

What got me started on this whole subject is that I want to purchase 24Lbs of Varget and 4000 CCI BR-2 primers.
Enough to last the estimated life of my barrel.
I doubt that Londero would have enough on hand from one lot but I may order it if I decide to stay with Varget.

The only thing that's holding me back is a lack of testing at a range longer than 200yds.

You mean 20.4 pounds:) since 24 is over the limit one can have at a residence;)

Propellants not exceeding 10 kg in their approved canisters, caddies and kegs may be stored on residential property, providing they are in a locked substantial magazine that is kept clean and used

I have 700 pcs of .308 brass waiting for my Sinclair Stainless Ultimate Trimmer to arrive.
I just received my tracking number this afternoon.
I should have it by Thursday.
That should put me under the 10Kg max.

No you totally missed it. I know what 10kg is. I was showing that he made a typo and he was buying a legal 20.4 pounds not 24 pounds.:D
God knows who reads these post, next the poor guy would have the powder police at his door:p

Powder Police?? I have only ever heard of one charge regarding powder storage.
It was laid due to other investigations, and was incidental.
The charges were later withdrawn.
The guy had over 150 lbs in his house.
Eagleye.

Only joking eagle eye on the powder police. :)I have been formally inspected twice over the years when I was a documented collector for firearm / ammo storage and both times there was zero interest in even seeing where my powder was or how much I had. The only inspections I have ever heard of where it was an issue was those done by insurance companies .

...If Canada's self proclaimed largest dealer of firearms advertised that they could provide you with an "exclusive cost advantage" over everyone else you would probably be the first to ##### about it when there was little or no cost advantage...

NO. I don't ##### about pricing on the EE or retailers. You can look back at any of my posts and check for yourself. I won't lower myself to that level, and I don't consider myself to have special status to entitlements. My mommy didn't raise me that way.

I will vote with my wallet. Starting a ##### thread on retailer A because I can buy something cheaper at retailer B seems utterly mindless to me. You already figured out where you can get the best deal - so go and get it. Look, decide, buy, move on. The emotional baggage that you choose to carry about such a simple decision is not worth the effort and makes you look like a spoiled brat.

If you really want an accurate anaylsis on Higginson's pricing, then contact Higginson. If you're looking for emotional support try Twitface or whatever they call those social network places. I hear they have a lot of touchy-feely guys over there that will be happy to comfort you. ;)

I never starts this thread with the intention of #####ing.
It was an honest attempt to figure out why they were selling their powders in a weight that the manufacturer does not offer it in.

If you don't like the direction the thread took you can simply move along since it isn't for you to decide where it goes.

Wow - sense of entitlement. FYI this is an open forum and we're all mostly free to make our pown posts as long as we stay within the guidelines. I'm commenting on your comments - that's how forums work. But you are free to move along if you don't like the direction the thread is taking. :)

And yes, you were #####ing. :)

Powder comes from the maker in 20 k fibre drums. It costs around $5.00 fob the plant. There are shipping and taxes and BS agravation (special labels on the truck), licensed dangerous goods driver, etc.

The distributor put the powder in whatever containers he wants to use. Higginson uses a plastic bag in a cardboard box because it is cheap and efficient. We can decant powder to our own jugs if we like jugs.

I used to buy a lot of powder. Typically about 1500 pounds at a time ebcause that is all the bulk my pick up would hold. Yes, I had a powder magazine.

Hell, I've been at the reloading game for less than a year and I've already got 10lbs of powder, it doesn't take long. Just wait until I find what works best and buy bulk!
