Bulk walnut shell media

Sure does. Have used it for years. A 50-lb. bag of the stuff from Princess Auto will likely outlast most of us.

Link now provided. Look at the reviews, "Kolbalt" used it as tumbling media. You probably don't need 25 qt. so if you have a local pet store it's probably worth calling to see what they have in stock. Make sure it's ground walnut only.

Would that be coconut bedding then?

I appreciate all the answers. I haven't been getting much mileage out of corncob media meant for reloading vs what it costs and want a cheaper alternative so I can change it out often when it loses its bite

I use the Princess Auto stuff. Works great for the price but the dust is a little annoying.

With any media, try a little squirt of metal polish when it starts getting tired. People prattle on about ammonia in some brands but you are only using a couple capfulls and it evaporates off right away.

I have PA walnut. It's fine and won't get stuck in the primer pocket or flashhole.
If you were in my area you could pick up some for a buck a pound since I had to buy a big bag.
Most of my tumbling is wet with ss pins so need a few lifetimes to use it all :)

On a windy day outdoors, pour the walnut media between two 5 gallon pails and you'll lose a lot of the dust that comes with the cheap media.

All I use is untreated walnut media lizard bedding with my vibratory tumbler and it works great and is cheap.

Watch the video below.

What Tumbling Media is the Best?

Don't have Princess Auto nearby: I used the walnut pet bedding for years now and works great. Only pet peeve is it sticks inside .223 brass / primer pockets sometimes because it is rather coarse.
Otherwise good to go.

I learned a good trick this last year. Squirt A little shot of cut polish in when your media seems to be done. Works like a dream. But will stink for a little bit.
