I never see it for sale locallyAny thoughts on 5744?I've not used any, but I would guess ~ 18 gr of 5744 would look "fuller" then 18 gr of Titegroup or 9 gr ofHS6

one of the Lyman manuals I believe 46 has round ball loads for 45 Colt.I’d personally go with the hs6 idk what the rules are for you guys but I’d also choose a round ball plinker load if it was me though.
I was looking at .45 acp data the other day with thoughts of using it in .45 Colt with the hs6 and 140gr(think .454 round ball) it was around 8gr.
I do not have it all the round ball loads I have found are with powders that are not available.one of the Lyman manuals I believe 46 has round ball loads for 45 Colt.
I’m out and it’s gone for the foreseeable future.I have used 5 grs of reddot with a 454 ball. I’ll see if I can find my book.
I was going to suggest cowboy special but the issue is needing a special lifter for most rifles.Well, the .45 "Short Colt" OK, Starline .45 Cowboy Specials, with 4.6 grains of Titegroup under a 200 grain LRNFP, are working fine in my Ruger NMVs, but I did discover they leave a ring in the cylinders that stops a .45 Colt (full size cartridge) from entering the cylinder chambers.
Red Storm had the answer however, with a Flex-hone fine carbide hone in .45 Colt that has cleaned up both cylinders.
Gotta get one of those.
Maybe the conversion kit to shoot .45 Cowboy Specials in my 1873 lever action as well.
