Bulky Powder for .45 Colt?

I’d personally go with the hs6 idk what the rules are for you guys but I’d also choose a round ball plinker load if it was me though.

I was looking at .45 acp data the other day with thoughts of using it in .45 Colt with the hs6 and 140gr(think .454 round ball) it was around 8gr.
one of the Lyman manuals I believe 46 has round ball loads for 45 Colt.

I've never used 5744, so I'll ask around and try to get some.
I did hear at today's CAS match in Prescott that CLAYS might be soon available!
If so, I'll be certain to get some of that for loading this winter, for the 2025 season!

I was flipping through the Accurate #2 manual a few years ago and found it worked in half of the guns I own. From 357 to 375. So if I didn't have a little of everything on the shelf, it was one I was planning to get.

Well, the .45 "Short Colt" OK, Starline .45 Cowboy Specials, with 4.6 grains of Titegroup under a 200 grain LRNFP, are working fine in my Ruger NMVs, but I did discover they leave a ring in the cylinders that stops a .45 Colt (full size cartridge) from entering the cylinder chambers.
Red Storm had the answer however, with a Flex-hone fine carbide hone in .45 Colt that has cleaned up both cylinders.
Gotta get one of those.
Maybe the conversion kit to shoot .45 Cowboy Specials in my 1873 lever action as well.

I was going to suggest cowboy special but the issue is needing a special lifter for most rifles.

I had a look at Serenity's at our last match and that will be my back-up.
I'm looking at my hoard of .45-70's loaded with TB and since my knees are giving out and I'm down to 2 of the beasts, I might start taking some apart and salvaging the TB in those cases.
One box of 50 .45-70's will allow me to load at least three boxes of 50 .45 Colt rounds.
Hummmm I sense another indoor winter project coming!!!
