Hi, I just bought my first riffle, its a Browning x-bolt in 300 win mag. I was just looking for some advice on which brand of bullet and load will be best for this riffle. i will be hunting deer and mouse this season.

Thanks, Greg.

If it were just deer, I'd say any 150 gr ammo will do the trick quite nicely. Fusion is an excellent choice, and very decently priced, too!

However, if you're including moose...

Step up to the premium stuff in the 180 gr range, such as Nosler, Barnes, etc., offered by most of the major manufacturers. Although I wouldn't hesitate for a second to stick with the Fusion 180s for moose.

That said...

I'm using Federal Premium 300 WM 130 gr. Barnes TTSX. The one bull elk I've taken so far with it never knew what hit him. Pretty much DRT.

3600 fps at the muzzle! And a veritable laser out to 300 yds.

And it definitely takes the bite out of the recoil that's standard in the 300 WM with 165, 180 and 200 gr. bullets.

Pricey as hell though! But then again, I generally only use one of 'em at time. ;)

180gr Winchester Super X are awesome shells....and for mickey mouse....go with 200gr. A frames for sure....HAHA....Kidding. The 180gr Winchester Super X will do for both Deer and Moose just fine....they are great shells for the price...I have never had a moose or deer walk away after being hit by them

My X-Bolt Likes Federal Vital-Shok TSX and that's what ill be using this fall for moose! Try a few loads and see what it prefers, pretty much any 180gr bullet will work well on moose

180gr is the best choice for the 300WM.There all are many brands to choose, but for hunting you never go wrong with180gr Federal Premium, Winchester Supreme 180 Nosler Accubond or NP.They holds more retained energy and velocity.

Thanks for all the great advice you guys. so i went down to the local gun shop and picked up a pack of Hornaday 180 and federal 150. gonna go to the range and see how the both shoot.
