Bullet comparator?

Hi guys,

I keep hearing about this thing.... I'm using a digital caliper for measuring my COAL, but have learned, and realize it's really not that accurate. I Did the thing with a loose bullet in a case, to find my ideal bullet length, and would like to consistently make re-loads that are perfectly the same, in regards to COAL. I found that that the COAL for my Savage M12 .308 likes loads with a COAL of 2.865, at least that's what my test bullet came out to, according to my digital caliper.... Where can i get one of these things? Or, is there a slip on thing that would attach to a digital caliper that would measure off the ogive? Anyone have a "comparator" they would part with?

Bingo. You need different collets for different calibres to measure where they would touch the rifling.

Jerry at Mystic got me a Hornady setup, works well, clips/screws on, works like a hot damn and price was fair.

This one will work with most caliber sizes $19.00.
If you want to do it right you must check all bullets and sort some bullets even match bullets I have seen out 24K

All your reloads will have the ogive the same distance from the lands because your die doesn't use the tip of the bullet to seat it. Its just hard to know what that distance is when you have to measure off the bullet tip because they vary a little bit. It's the hornady tool that you're looking for but you will also need a modified case for your chambering to go along with it. Mystic precision can help you out with what you're looking for.

Thanks alot guys, due to this thread, I got an offer for one with exactly what i needed! .223 and .308 sizes. I'm just waiting for it... ;-) I know things are gonna get more accurate.
