Bullet for .30 Remington??

Recent buy:REMINGTON mod8 in .30 Rem. caliber.
Which bullet weight and shape will be the best to reload for this gun?

Probably a 150 or 170 grain designed for the 30-30 since velocity /balistics is the same.

With the added bonus that you can load pointed spitzer type bullets because you don't have to worry about a tubular magazine.Gives you a nice range of bullets to tryout,I think 150 gr.would be a good choice personally due to the modest case capacity of this round.

I beleive the normal bullet was a 170 grian round nose or flat point.

I use Hornady's 160gr FTX Leverevolution bullets. They seem to work well, though I have not done much testing with them. I think I'm pushing them at about 2200 FPS, which is pretty mild. Show some pics of your M8 and have a look at thegreatmodel8.net and their forum. Lots of good info about these old beauties on that site.
