Hey CGN!

It's been awhile since I've posted here – good to be back! I was recently lucky enough to score one of the 6.5mm Creedmoor Ruger Precision rifles, and have been looking at getting setup for casting. I'm curious as to whether or not people have been successful in casting for this round. From my forum searching and my own research via google, I cannot seem to find a mould that people have used for this. I am assuming that this RCBS one would be viable due to the diameter working out to about 6.5mm, but I just wanted to get additional opinions before trying it out. I also don't mind a good recommendation as I am clearly a newbie ;)

Would anyone mind pointing me in the direction of a mould I could use? It would be much appreciated. Also wouldn't mind taking the opportunity of seeing some of your casts if you happen to have photos

Really appreciate it! Thanks in advance

That mold is for .257 Roberts, 250 Savage and such. Way too small for a 6.5. http://www.rcbs.com/Products/Bullet-Casting/Bullet-Moulds/Rifle/Bullet-Mould-270-150-SP-529.aspx. This one is made for 6.5mm rifles. I'm not sure if that mold will work though. I have no idea how long or tight the throat is. I know my Weatherby S2 is tight and molds designed for the military 6.5 rounds are too fat to use without nose sizing. They need to be seated way too deep. I want this one but I have no idea when he is going to run more.

I would take this one too.

I don't know if this bullet would be suitable for your 6.5 Creedmoor, here are the dimensions I'm getting with my mold. I have both plain base and GC'd versions of NOE 269-145 FN. Using linotype alloy my mold casts very large. The driving bands measure .272-.273. The nose portion, approximately .650" from the bullet base measures .271-.272. The shank on the gas checked bullet was so large that I had to make my own custom gas checks, using material no thicker than .008". I size my bullets to .270". At that size, I can't use a standard RCBS bullet seater to seat the bullets, they get stuck in the top portion of the die. I have a Lyman Tru-Line Jr press and use a .270 Win seater die to seat my bullets. I shoot the bullets out of a 6.5 x 55 Swedish Mauser with a very generous throat and grooves. They do make for a pretty good looking round.
