bullet options for the .30-30?

A bit better performance from my .30-30 Handi-Rifle (22" barrel). With Hornady bullets I get 2600 fps MV with a 150gr SP bullet, and 2800 fps with the 110gr SP. Hornady 3rd. edition lists 2400 fps for a 150gr and 2600 fps for a 110gr ('94 20" barrel).

no it doesn't. we're always tweaking and trying to make stuff better. it's done because of reasons!

it's just interesting that you can take the .30-30 and have ballistics that are comparable to newer and more advanced options. :)

You'd have a mean version of the 300 BLK cartridge! I don't think a guy ever needs a reason to justify going fast, slow, or coloring outside the lines.

I've shot cast bullets that light, and the point of impact height changed dramatically, but I'd blame it on such a difference in velocity in my case.

A little more speed with LEVERevolution powder. Then a 150gr should do about 2400 fps from a 20" barrel '94.

I'm with Eagle....old school
I don't even have to refer to a manual for this one....30 grains of 3031 in the 30-30 with a 170.
Many whitetails have succumbed to this load from my 50's era 336.
Been beat to death.....let's talk about 6.5 Creedmore instead :d

reading the wiki, I see they list details on a 110 grain bullet load. what bullet(s) are available for the .30-30 in weights that low?

and while I know pointed bullets are faux pas, are there options for a round nose copper bullet like the TTSX? seems that having something like that with the velocities attained using bullet weights like that would be a deadly combination.

I've used the 110 grain TTSX in the Savage 340 (a bolt action) with the brass trimmed extra short. Worked great. This year I'm going to try the special 30-30 TSX 150 grain bullet. So yes, you can use (T)TSX bullets in the 30-30.
