Hey all,

I recently picked up a Tikka T3 Lite Stainless in .260 Rem to be the new go-to rifle for deer/black bear hunting. I haven't fired it yet, though I do have a box of Remington Core-Lokt just to get a baseline of how the rifle shoots prior to loading my own.

My question is this; can anyone recommend a good bullet choice for hunting in the 120gr-140gr range? I assume that this is the bullet weight which will do well in the 8 twist barrel that the rifle is wearing. I am thinking Nosler or Barnes...

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Thank you.

Woodleigh 140gr PPSN, I don't think you would need to go the 160gr PP SN for those critters, due to the Fact the Woodleigh is a proven performer.

heres some details-
SD .287 BC .444 Rec impact 1900-3000, projectile length 1.240inch

I have a buddy that has a tikka 260 and he uses lapua scenar 129's iirc. I don't think they are classified as a hunting bullet but a lot of people use them successfully. His shoots well under 1/2" groups

The lapua scenars 123/139gr work pretty good on deer sized game if your comfortable with them. H-4350 RL17 RL19 are good for 120-140gr class bullets. H-4831 is what I shoot in mine with the 140s

A Barnes ttsx is a safe choice and I have plans on shooting hornady ELDX this fall.

The Hornady 129 SST is a good deer bullet... I would go with a bonded or mono 140 for bear... just in case that bruiser shows up.

I get good accuracy with the 129gr Accubond LR, and the 130gr Accubond. And both are excellent for use on big game.
You'l find the Woodleighs just like the Accubond in my opinion, maybe a wee bit softer up close but mushrooming perfect almost everytime.

the WL are cheaper per 50 down here an I rekon CAN is selling for similar pricing too here.. our Nosler projectiles have gone up a fair bit in last few years

cheers

Suggest 140 grain sierra Game King for a deer bullet. Have used them extensively in my Tika Swede. Muzzle velocity is about 2780 fps and have never had a penetration issue. Last deer I shot was at about 100 yards head on. Went in at the base of the neck and had straight line penetration through the entire length of the chest, through the liver, the stomach, and came to rest in the guts somewhere.

Some poo poo these bullets, but at 260 Rem velocities and for deer, they are superb.

Terrific accuracy - I suspect the load and rifle can approach 0.75 MOA, but the nut behind the trigger isn't as consistent as that
