I was browsing through the frontier bullets website looking for their 303 flat point bullets
i stumbled upon this document which talks about loads they tried

hxxp://www.frontierbullets.co.za/pdf/RANGE%20REPORT%20No.__3007200976254_1_.pdf

can you please check
1- on page one it says only 17.5 grs of powder IMR Trailboss
the number seems to be low since comparing to all other powder the loads are in the 40 grains

2-on page 4 it says
NOT TO PULL BACK A ONCE INSERTED CARTRIDGE
as due to the shape of the GAMERANGER BULLET it will be
seated easily INSIDE THE GROOVES which will cause the bullet to be
kept inside the barrel and the brass case pulled out alone spilling the powder
into the chamber and the magazine!

i still dont understand what they mean by saying the bullet would remain stuck
isn;t this why it is crimped?
and what would the dangers be?

these two points are making me think twice before going ahead an buying their bullets

what do you think about these two issues?
is it worth the savings compared to hornady bullets?

I checked out the site to see the bullets, they are nearly wadcutters and so will contact the lands if even a little of the bullet is out of the case, hence their warning. Trailboss is a very low density powder and relatively fast and so is ideal for the reduced loads they were talking about ,17 grains would nearly fill the case. The bullet shape may be designed for accuracy but I don't see why these bullets would be any better than a round nose or spire pint for plinking.

they retail for 30$/150 compared to hornady's bulk bullets 30$/100
that's the only reason i would consider it

:DWhere did you find that PDF on Frontier's site? I spent quite a bit of time looking, but could not find. The data in that PDF is for 7.62x54. I too am quite interested in this data, as the bullets are not only cheap(er) than Hornady's but also use very little powder! Makes for a long long session of shooting with one pound of Trailboss. :D

check out imr/ data for trail boss data

you can get/ use it for almost anything with a lead bullet and now people are using it for jacketed rounds as well ( reduced velocity reduced recoil)

it is almost 2 times bulkier than any other powder

the imr 1 pound container does not hold 1 pound IT ONLY HOLDS 9 oz
