Was shooting across a lake today and missed twice :p at 1000yards so I went and recovered the bullets from the snow. The one with bent tip is a 300 grain SMK shot from a savage .338 Edge and the other 2 are 250 grain scenars shot from a .338 LM. They are in remarkably good shape

Pretty cool. That is a lot of bullet in the 300 grain SMK. I haven't tried the heavier bullet yet out of my 338 LM - I am still farting around with 250 grain Scenars.

It was surprisingly easy to find bullets, either that or I am missing way too much an their are bullets everywhere:kickInTheNuts:

The easy ones to find skip through the snow and end up only a few inches under the surface at the last spot you see a track.

Nice!

If I could have made it there would have been a few more recovered from the snow!!! ;)

Those 300gr SMK’s, may be fakes, they guy you got them from may have ripped you off… :D

Very Cool!

Have you recovered any that hit something at that distance?
Also, not to hijack, but what load are you using with the 250's and 300's?

Just picked up some of the berger 300gr hybrids for my 338 lapua from Jerry at mystic precision. Cant wait to try them out, ill have to take a stab at trying to recover them as well!

The 300's must be fake. Can't hit s**t with them. Just kidding.

The 300's are from a 338 Edge. I am using 90grs of H100. I am planning to go up to max load of 94 gr soon. Just wanted to finish going from 400 to 1000. I snipe was very helpful.

Had to reset the 100 yrd zero as it turned out to be 4 inches off. After that is was a windage issue but I was able to overcome it.

Cool finds!!

I found these in the spring, by the mile target.

The big lead ones are found around the 500 yard target. Shot from some 45/70s.

Wow-- I never would have thought of that, I only recycle and re use the case you guys recycle the bullets too! Lower chamber pressures the second time around because the bullets already engraved!!

Snow works very well for stopping bullets with out to much damage, i have some 30 and 284 cast bullets i found laying in the snow on my range during the spring melt. Looked like new except for the rifling marks, gas check still in place as well.

I'm using 94.5 of H1000 in the 250's and 89.5 with the 300's. Seemed to have found an accuracy node at 89.5, did go up to 92.0 but accuracy dropped off.

94 grains of H-1000 with a 300 SMK is way hot for the 338/300. Be careful as H-1000 isn't as slow as it used to be. I would put the max right around 90 for current lots.
