Bullpup Bakelite AK

Man, it is really a lot of plastic-bakelite, looks still badass, i still don't get why appropriate overall length bullpups are a no no in Canada (with some exceptions)....

my guess is because its "easily concealable" or some other non sense like that

If you are wondering about why certain bullpups are legal, the law says the stock is the prohibited part. If the gun/receiver is a bullpup such as the Tavor and RDB that is not a "combined stock and firearm" and is exempt since its 1 piece.

Regulations prescribing certain firearms said:
2 Any rifle, shotgun or carbine stock of the type known as the “bull-pup” design, being a stock that, when combined with a firearm, reduces the overall length of the firearm such that a substantial part of the reloading action or the magazine-well is located behind the trigger of the firearm when it is held in the normal firing position.

I assume the initial intention of the law was to prevent people from making a long firearm shorter by modifying it via a bullpup configuration.

When they banned bullpups, they didn’t ban them. They banned the stocks. So while a T97 is legal since the receiver isn’t a stock, the bullpup SKS conversion stock is illegal.

The stocks were banned. In the late '70s or early '80s, you could buy a plastic bullpup clamshell stock for the Mini 14. Perfectly legal, but wicked to shoot. The geniuses at the Firearms Lab made sure it was on the shopping list for regulatory prohibition. And now we can buy whole firearms that were designed start to finish as bullpups.

Bullpups being legal was purely by accident.

When the current law was passed they banned the Steyr Aug by name, and also banned bullpup stocks.

But the people writing the law did not consider future bullpup rifles hitting the market.
So the wording of the law does not prohibit them.

Don't forget the FAMAS. Those were outright prohibited WITHOUT grandfathering (as were the Calicos).
