Bullseye has the new ruger... Just a heads up...*in store feel'r review*

thank god its the 22 and not the 17hmr.
my wife wont have to yell at me for buying anything this week!

but if the 22 is here that means the 17's are not far behind.....
i should probably be proactive and squirrel some money away now so she dosnt notice!

I twitched a little when I noticed it... Got impatient with my cash and picked up a CZ 455 American Synthetic on sale... It was on sale c'mon what is a man spose to do!?

I saved my self some cash for sure though... 649 Retail, plus tax comes out to 733.37... I got the cz 589 all in (Sale was PR's No tax, no shipping) SO I saved myself 144.37 bucks and have a well trusted rifle I know will preform accuracy wise the way I want... Also I don't feel bad drilling a tacpro cheek riser into the CZ's synthetic stock... It would GUT me to have to do that to ruger (I would, I can see from the pictures I would need one)...

I'm going to have to zip into bullseye this week and handle it !

ohhhhh!
post how it feels when you get back!
*living vicariously through you*

So, Ruger has got into the blade-safety on the trigger madness?

Worst thing to happen to gun design. I blame the Savage LBA "Lawyer Built Action" for getting this madness into too many hands.

I see they're still using the same 1 piece scope rail.A lot of guys were complaining that it doesn't extend back far enough.

Maybe I am not looking hard enough, but in the many pages of google looking for reviews I couldn't really find anything. Good or bad... Just stock sites basically quoting ruger.

I don't mind them, I think there are worse things like why a "target" rifle doesn't have an adjustable or high cheek comb...

I'm going to rub my dirty paws all over it hopefully at bullseye, will get there hopefully before mid next week and get a hands on "feeler"

So as promised I went and got my grubby paws on it.

First thing that jumps out an smacks you in the face, it is a pretty rifle. The barrel is not the matt but a nice shiny black.

When you first pick it up, it is SUPRISINGLY heavy feeling. This thing feels like it could be run over and have no issues. It isn't SO heavy that it feels unbalanced or harder to shoot. It is definitely a little front heavy with that super thick barrel. Not too far you need to work to hold on a target.

The thread protector protects the crown very well! I would have no worries about using it as a spear vrs a rock. The crown will be fine.

The trigger has a little creep but hardly noticeable.

After someone mentioned in this thread about the rail, we checked it out by test fitting some scopes on. It may be an issue for some people. Your range to move the optic back and fourth becomes very limited to fit the optic to you. That rail could have been longer.

Takes ruger factory mags.

The bolt was a little rough and sticky but some oil and wear would fix that. Not a one or two finger bolt throw, need to use your hand.

Will need a cheek pad or riser.

The "slots" in the front for shooting sticks are interesting. Not sure when I would be using those on a 22.

Seems like an awesome very solid rifle. Now just need someone to buy it and show us if it shoots!

I happened to have my new CZ 455 American Synthetic with me. For a hunting rifle, I would take the CZ, it feels like a feather compared next to it.

As a plinker, range, bench fun gun no problem! If you don't mind a bit of weight I'm sure it would take small game just fine for you! (nothing a sling cant fix right?)

Somebody please grab one of these and shoot some groups! I just grabbed a cz452 17hmr over the weekend, used, from a local guy, but great shape, I need to know if I should grab the matching 452 in .22lr while they are still floating around , or go to the Ruger and round out that collection. Is it right to justify the Ruger because I already have lots of mags??

Cz hands down, ruger prices went up, and quality control down, yes the dollar partly but also Canadian distributor as well?

lets not turn this into a CZ vs Ruger thread... the CZ guys wont change there mind and neither will the Ruger guys...

well i dont know, Ruger put the RAR on a nice wood stock, bulls up the barrel, oversizes the bolt handle and puts on a nice rail, seems to me like they are making a play for the mid-range 22 class that is held by CZ and Savage.
one does not have to use much of a imagination to see they are trying to punch outside of their normal weight class.

so keeping that in mind one would hope they tightened up the old quality control on these guns.
cause lets me honest, if your gonna sink $700 into a bolt gun and your trying to decide between a RAR and a CZ and a Savage.....
now dont get me wrong, i have a RAR and i love it.
but part of that love is the fact that it cost me $300 not the $650 i put out for my CZ or my Savage.

so i say let the comparison between them continue, Ruger is the one making the play for the higher level lets hold them to the higher level standard.
i know when i pick up my RAR Target the first thing im doing is comparing it to my CZ and Savage.

but we cant compare the base RAR to the CZ.
lets compare THIS RAR Target to the CZ and until someone has one and can compare them side by side we are all just speculating.

Both will say savage is the worst though! lmao

Yup, I still may pick up that target if I find some cash next month. Then I can do a side by side of the CZ 455 American vrs the CZ 455 synthetic ... I think a varmint would be a better comparison though.
