BUM and Back40Sniper Take Africa!!! (56k Beware!!!)

Excellent images! Appreciate some more interesting details (if you have the time :) ) i.e. distances of the shots taken, did you have to do much stalking, hunting conditions etc :)

Great pics, I am down to 72 sleeps before I go. What part of South Africa were you in?
We will be in the Northwest province, first near Kimberly and then near Upington. One of my buddies just got a beautiful 375, I wish I had known sooner I would have arranged to take it. My 300 win already has the paper work done.

I have read that once you have your first Kudu that you have to get another!

Great pics and obviously you had a great trip!

BUM and Back40,
So, are you two already plotting your return to Africa?:D I can't imagine anyone going and not wanting to go right back. Part of me never left.
Great pictures, but need a couple of stories to go with them. They will help tide over those of us who are waiting our turn.
Did either of you feel handicapped by not using the "little" .300s?;)

Great pics!
Kudus to you. :D

I'm disappointed you didn't wear one of those old British safari helmets..would have looked great with the stash. :D

What a hunt!!! Thanks for sharing the pic's. Truly amazing.

Did you get to taste any of that exotic meat?

Wow, I truely am jealous. Thanks for the post and pics. A dream come true for sure. What did your mom do while you were hunting. Stay at camp? Tag along? Did she hunt at all?

Looks like a fine time BUM, so tell us a little about the trip. Temps in the AM, EVE, wait on a shot, long/short. Tough animals, good guns, a long trip...(travel time)
Congrats on the game taken:cool: , oh see any dangerous game, other than the bus with a horn on the grill. :D

Hello gents, to answer a few questions. Food was great but too much! The temps there varied, cool in the morning, about 7 to 10 C and got hot quickly, 30,s by noon and then cooled off again as sun went down about 6:30 local time. After working outside all winter I found the afternoon temps a bit much and I think everyone felt the same, even the sun worshippers. Most hunting is spot and stalk, look at the ground in the Kudu pics, very hard to walk quietly . The Afrikan way is too shoot right off the truck! Very alien to our way of thinking, most shots are no more than 200 meters give ot take. It is a good idea to practice shooting off of sticks as that is how it is done over there. Will post some pics later. Should say, if you have to sell all your guns, except one, to go. It is worth it. Will include some Cape Buffalo pics later also :dancingbanana:

That about sums it up. Make it a .375 and go hunting! A room full of rifles won't get you as much game as a plane ticket.
