The only difference between a run-of-the-mills 870 and a P model, is the finish, the extractor, and the carrier latch spring. The polymer trigger guard/assembly is actually stronger than the powdered metal counterpart and the MIM extractor works just fine.

You're basically just getting a better finished 870, which is a good thing because 870's start to rust the second they leave the assembly line.
