Buried with my Hand Guns?

Having been told by a reputable mortician about being buried with a rifle or shotgun ,he said he does it on occasion ,why not a few handguns?Unloaded,locked in a locked container of course!:)
 
Probably because the Gun Gestapo has a list of all your prohib and restricted guns and will probably come looking for them sooner rather than later; and it would put your next of kin in a very awkward position when they aren't produced.

It could also mean that your body will be dug up, either by the Gun Gestapo or some criminal types to get the guns.

"Jeez I dont know where grandpa/dad/etc kept those guns". "They were always locked away in a secret place he said so they/we would be safe."

Ha ha ha ha I very much doubt that. I am willing to bet that if your geztapo started a witch hunt to physically confirm the location of all handguns in Canada, they would get a pretty big surprise. I am betting there are thousand buried with people or stashed somewhere secret that no one knew about when the person died.

Too costly for the gov't to dig up, considering they are in a safe place.

And it's too much like work for the "criminal type" to even think 'bout it. They've got easier, simpler ways of getting guns.

My father-in-law was buried with at least one of his firearms, but he was from the "land of the free, and home of the brave".

Not the next of Kin...the Executor would likely get quizzed though. More likely he can wait years before they would even be aware of it. There is a story on this topic, a Friend of the family still has a bunch of Prohib's ( Clunky Old BP belly guns) in a safe. No idea what to do with them... he'll pass on and they will just disappear I'd surmise.
You think way to highly of their ability to maintain track of these sort of things. It's more of an honour system than anything else.
 
Since you're deactivated at that point, your family could have the firearms also deactivated, then in they go.

Also, there's a big difference between having firearms buried where you're buried... and and being buried where your firearms are buried (cough, cough) lol

Yes for sure. I know during the long gun registry of a lot of rifles that were never registered and were quietly moved after the passing of the owner to new locations. Even though the registry died, I doubt anyone would have ever come looking for those guns.
 
Guns will change hands without the legal transfer..after you die..it does not matter to you who as them.
Many will not take a loss $$ because of stupid laws.. I am not saying they will be sold to commit crimes, but to buddies that have legal guns and are just shooters.

Would you rater make a deal with a friend than give them back for scraps ?
That might not be the norm, but I bet it will happen. A lots of guns will disappear if those laws are not turn back.
Burdening and pressurizing law abiding people will only lead to stop following those laws..more drastic they become, worse and faster it will happen.

When I phoned the firearms centre about my dad's restricted riflec I found YEARS later they didn't even seem to care. It sounds like a lot are never found. It just depends if you want your life under a microscope. I don't lol.
 
I have already advised my family that if at the end of my life I start to go nuts and bury my guns in different places they won't be able to inherit them...so they can't turn them in. Just saying...Phil.

Yup, people do some pretty crazy things when they get old. And they get forgetful. Real forgetful.
 
I bought a house once where an elderly man had lived. He dropped dead on the sidewalk outside and at least two of his registered handguns are still unaccounted for. I tore the place apart and never found them.
 
What good is a locked or disabled gun? You need them functional because you never know what you might encounter during the next voyage.
