Burris Droptine 3-9x40 ? VX1 leauge?

hey guy i see a 2nd hand Burris drop tine 3-9x 40 which would be handy scope for my Whelen for starters?

but i wanted to ask what the gist is with these scopes for recoil rifles like the Whelen?

or is it better suited to the .222??

are they better or not so, as the Burris fullfield??
