Burris Eliminator scope

A friend has one that I've played with. It's a techie toy, fun to mess around at the range or plinking. It works as advertised. I'm glad he bought it...after a few hours the novelty was gone for me, and it didn't cost me a dime.:)

I'd be embarrassed to use it for hunting.

He would like to try it on his 6mm rem, for yote hunting. Trying to fiddle with a rangefinder, then getting settled in for the shot is frustrating him some what. He would like to be able to range and shoot asap.

at what distance? just thinking out loud here - if the coyote is close, there's not a heck of a lot of bullet drop and some experience ought to be enough to pick the right approx holdover - ergo no need for the laser. if the coyote is far, then you still gotta figure out the wind anyways which the laser won't help you with, so it's not really helped you THAT much. a half-solution for a non-trivial problem?

How exact are you at estimating range?
How exact are you at guessing your hold over?
Now with all your guess work, throw wind in there as well?

Pretty sure your chances of hitting a dog sized target are alot less than the person using the Eliminator.

BTW the OP asked if anyone was using the Eliminator or had tried it.

My buddy has one on his yote rig. Really likes it.

Trying to range a running coyote is not easy but works great to range various landmarks when you get set up to call, or if you spot a dog who isnt spooked.

I would recomend spending the money on a regular scope. You will get more scope for the same money without all the unnecessary stuff. Oh...and they are ugly!

They work good, a few down sides, there ugly, they are heavy and bulky, on a long range yote gun that you set up on a hill side work great, not on running targets but non moving ones work great. my 2 cents

would it range a standing elk 500 yds away and is it fairly accurate with bullet drop. thinking of puting one on 338 ultra mag.

I thought about one for my 45-70 as 25 yards makes a huge difference at extended ranges. Not for hunting ut for range shooting. I'd like to use one on a big bore before I buy one

Leeelmer could you clarify a bit how this works? If you have a target at 450 yards, will the cross hairs light up at 450? What about at 475 yards? Since there may be a large vertical component to the bullet trajectory at that range how close do the lighted cross hairs come to the actual measured range? How many lighted cross hair positions are there on this scope?
