Hi all,
I'm thinking of mounting a Burris FastFire II on a Ruger mark III. Could anyone with some red dot experience post me some feedback on these. Along the lines of "I had one of these and hated it because ________ so I went back to ___________" or vice-versa. I like the size of it, and I think the 'protector' mount is a good idea too. Also a Canadian source with reasonable prices would be much appreciated if anyone knows of one. Thanks!

I used the original fastfire on my markIII hunter with the rear sight mount. Works beautifully!

I just got one and mounted it on my glock 17. I have only used it once so far but I really like it, I do wish there was a faster way of mounting and un-mounting. I have yet to try it on my mark 3 hunter.

Thanks for the replies! So is that the specific mount for Ruger Mark series, or do they have a universal dovetail mount? WHere did you guys puchase the sights? Thanks!

...now I'm looking for one of these, too...

The person I just spoke with at Brownells said they will not ship this item to Canada. Can anyone recommend a Canadian source?

Thanks...

I got mine from The Shooting Edge it was on sale for like $250 at the time. Wicked deal. really nice people to deal with too.

Lebaron's has them on sale for $229.

I tried sighting mine in yesterday evening (overcast 60-30 minutes before sunset) and found that the dot was way too bright for the light conditions. With a 1" black square as the aiming mark at 20m it was impossible to see the square. The dot almost completely obscured the bullseye of a 10m airpistol target at 20m. Indoors it looks fine. I'll have to try it in bright sunlight to see how the auto intensity adjustment handles that...

I much prefer the form factor of the Burris to the Sparc. It is perfect on my DAR22. From the shooter's perspective there is a lot of bulk to the Sparc compared to the field of view. The Fastfire is a very neat HUD. With the Sparc you can manually control the intensity of the dot, which appears to be a plus so far.

The $35-40 Tasco red dots have sharper dots that either of these $200+ optics. Is one FastFire II worth five or six Tasco Red Dots? No.
