Howdy folks!

Am currently having trouble deciding inbetween the to two options.

Exact scopes being compared are:

Nikon Prostaff 4-12x40mm with BDC reticle ~ $260

Burris Fullfield II 4-14x42mm with Ballistic Plex reticle ~ $440

The rifle it will reside atop with be a Norinco M-14 (Troy chassis, muzzle brake) if that helps anyones opinion. Once I finally free up some more cash for some quality glass it will be put on a Savage 111 30-06.

I have a couple other Nikon Prostaff 150 BDCs mounted on mine and my fathers Savage 17 HMRs and I am pretty impressed with the quality of the glass for the price. The plastic turret caps are kind of a turn-off but the rest seems rugged enough for their use. I have an old Burris Short Mag 3-9x32mm mounted on my M-14 right now and don't like it very much. I find the eye box is super touchy to get into at times and causes tons of eye strain to see clearly through. Also with the smaller objective there is less light transmission.

Have never had a chance to look through any other Burris Optics, but have heard many rave reviews about how great they are for such a great price point.

Everyones opinions are much appreciated!

Thanks!

Bill

I'd skip the ff2 and look at the C4 from Burris, I have a ff2 3-9 and a C4 4.5-14 - and prefer the C4 and they are about the same price as the one your looking at. They also have 2-3 new models if you check there site.
As for the Nikon I would spend another 100 bucks and get a prostaff 5, the ones I looked at seem decent for your dollar. That will probably be my next one, I have a monarch that I like, just a tad heavy.

I have both scopes... you can't go wrong with either... also, LeBaron's sells the Burris FFII 4.5-14X42mm for $327. It is a nice, clear, well made optic... so is the ProStaff... I prefer the glass on the ProStaff 5 series to the standard ProStaff, but they do cost a little more... the ProStaff 5 series comes in a 3.5-14X which is a very useful range for your needs... Cabelas.ca carries them.
