Burris MTAC 1-4 vs Hi-Lux CMR ...

I went with the CMR for my 14.5" and use the QD PEPR. I ordered it through Wanstalls and they shipped it out quickly and I had it within a week.
I looked at all the options under $800 and decided on it based on the reticle and the turrets. When it showed up I was very impressed by the clarity and brightness of the glass and I think I made the right choice.
I was not impressed with any of the options available from Burris, Millett, Bushnell or Leupold. I haven't used any of these at the range but they didn't impress me when looking at them at the local shops. I would have liked to buy the Trijicon or NF but they are out of my budget for a 300yd or less rifle, I haven't tried using the holdover marks beyond 300 but I zeroed it at 100 and was hitting the 300 gong easily with it.
In my opinion the CMR is the best scope in the 1-4 power range for under $800.

Good to hear all the positive reviews. I ordered a CMR with the red reticle and a PEPR mount. I decided not to go with the QD as I can't really see it being whored between guns every few days so I'd like the peace of mind knowing my zero won't shift.
I would go back and change the order to QD for that mount. I wouldn't worry about it shifting zero. It's a well done QR system. I would get the QD for looks, ease of use and it being more versatile with other firearms such as the RFB. You can change the lever arms from forward to backwards. So no need to use the mount backwards.

Gotta agree with Epoxy here, the QD PEPR is a quality mount. In my experience, I can take it off and re-attach with no issues at all, and as long as you put it back in the same spot you took it off of, it will hold zero. I tested it from 100M, on out to 300M removing and re-mounting it in between strings of 5 rounds, and found no difference. For the price, the QD mount is really the only way to go. Do what you want, but know this, if your ONLY reasoning behind getting the NON quick detach mount, is fear of zero shift, then relax, your being paranoid,do what he says and change the order to the QD mount, trust Epoxy, myself, and I am sure the many others who will say, the mount holds zero exceptionally.
