I've had a bit of any issue with my Burris zee rings with the plastic inserts. The scope slid a bit with each shot. When I got home and checked screws they were tight and so was the scope. The only thing I can figure is that when I was out in cold weather -15C the plastic shrunk ever so slightly as to allow the scope to slip and when I got back into the warm house they expanded and were tight again. This is the first time I've tried these rings in cold weather.

Has anyone had a similar experience with these rings and if so what did you do to resolve it ? I've mounted dozens of scopes in the past with no worries but this is the first time with this type of ring in cold weather.

I've used Burris rings with inserts for coyote hunting in pretty frigid conditions for years without problems....the plastic should be impervious to extreme cold. Could the screws have been over-tightened and possibly stripped? That would one one scenario that would cause loosening with recoil.

I have three rifles with these rings on it; one is holding a Leupold LR in place. I have had least amount of problems with these rings compared to any other ones I have owned. I have not shot any heavy magnums with these rings mounted, biggest caliber is a 30-06, but everything is exactly where I mounted it.

Make sure your rings, plastic inserts and scope body are completely dry and free of any oil/lubricant. Take some degreaser and wipe all these parts carefully and then dry them with a clean cloth before assembly. We have never had problems with these holding with the "Signature series" ring inserts. Probably you have already been doing this but when you dismantle to confirm there is no oil/grease etc I would check to ensure you have the matching sets of inserts eg 0/0 or +5/-5 etc installed in each ring.

Also ensure that the plastic inserts as mounted are split at 3 and 9 o'clock ... this may not be entirely necessary but I have a personal belief (bias) that installing them to line up with the ring half's will ensure the clamping is more secure.

Also make sure there is no "lip" or plastic flashing on the inserts that might prevent a complete grip on the scope tube.

If that fails you might try a little rosin - I have "read" it helps - never tried it myself.

I have never had a problem with the Signature rings ... but have had a scope slip on a rifle. The scope was heavy and 1 inch diameter, the rifle was a light 350Rem mag. and the all steel rings were designated as 1in/26mm. - not a good combination as I found out.
