Burris Spotting Scope ?

LOL there was just a thread on this yesterday...

Anyway, I inquired about the same scope at TSE the last time I was down, and I believe they had one on order.

After that, I did a bit of web research on spotting scopes at some bird watching websites (those people are crazy about their optics) and some mentioned that the Cassegrain reflector design is better suited to star gazing than terrestrial spotting... I never did get enough info to figure out why that is, but they recommended a prism design FWIW.

I'd still like to see one.

On another note, earlier in the year I looked through a Burris 20-60X80 Landmark, and found it very clear and bright. I believe the price is around $300 IIRC...

I remember a report in Precision Shooting on a smaller Meade Cassegrain scope being used as a range spotting scope. The resolution of bullet holes was remarkable. This was a larger scope than the Burris. The 25-75 power range isn't important, but if has superior resolution, it might be a good one. Can't see why a reflector would be less useful than a refractor.
