I'm considering purchasing a Burris Veracity scope for either my 300 WinMag or my 6.5x55 hunting rifle
I like the 3 x15-50 except for the 50 mm objective because my concern is the 50 mm my be just to big for a hunting rifle that I'm lugging through northern Ontario heavy bush country. For that reason I'm considering going with the 2x10-42 unless I get some good feedback to the contrary.

Has anyone used the Veracity scopes and have any feedback, or any comments on my concerns with a 50 mm objective for a hunting rifle in heavy bush
Lastly any suggestions on who might have the 2-10x42 fr sale at a reasonable price?
 
I have a pair of the 3x15's.. Glass is super.. Bought one first year out and second last year because I was so happy! They are a heavy scope and the cross hairs are basically useless in the bush on 3 power. For a coyote rifle at long range they are superb..

thanks for the feedback. I guess the 3x15 is out for me because I wanted something that could be used in heavy bush as well. Maybe the 2x10 will be a better choice but I will need to look through one to be certain. I suspect the 2x10 Burris is heavier than my Vortex Viper 2.5-10x32 FFP
 
The 2-10 x42 is better for closer shots then the 3x15x50. But you may need to dial it up above 2 though if you feel more comfortable with a larger reticle. It is decent glass and is a worth a try for lower powered FFP scope.
 
I own a 2-10X42.

It is super clear and doesn't get "flaky around the edge" out at 10X.

The combination reticle is very functional on this scope - you have the E1 reticle right in the center and then the tapering crosshairs "almost touching" the E1 reticle.

At 2X you have a (thin) crosshair right in the middle that doesn't obstruct any worse than the E1 reticle (which is finer in the FFP version than you find on the SFP models) - at 10X I find it "busy" but still very usable (any BDC reticle is busy, this is more so with the windage dots).

Would I buy another one - absolutely, but will maybe wait until the buck recovers a bit. I got my current one for just on 600 bucks (last year), they are currently selling for about $900 - still "great value" compared to other FFP's with similar quality and function, but quite the "sticker shock" in less than 12 months.

I ended up mounting this with high rings (Vortex 30 mm) on a Weaver 1 pc base. The medium rings gave decent barrel clearance but the rifle's bolt was smacking into bell on the scope when operated - would have been ok with a 60 degree bolt, but there was interference with a 90 degree bolt - the high rings gave clearance.

Something to consider if you source your parts "on-line".

Thanks for the feedback. I think it will need to be on my scope to purchase ... But that could mean I will need to get another rifle to suit it ... Sort if sounds like my wife when she buys a purse on sale but then needs a dress and shoes to go with it
