Anyone using Burris Zee rings on a savage Mk II g? I plan on using them to mount a Nikon Prostaff rimfire II and wasn’t sure if I should get the low or medium

Not sure if this helps, but i have low Zee rings on my Ruger American Ranch, and with a 40mm objective scope, i have LOTS of room. Wish i could have gotten extra low.

I think I’ll go with the low as well then. The objective on the Nikon I’m looking at is also 40mm, and the bolt is really small and doesn’t travel far on the MkII.

To get the exact height of the rings go to Brownell's, find the model you want and click. Ring heights appear in the sidebar. I don't know why manufacturers rarely provide this basic information. Burris Zees tend to be a little lower than others with the same height designation (low, med, high, etc.) I use highs on my BTVS. They allow room for the scope cover and adequate clearance off the barrel. Be sure to take into account barrel taper and the angle of the scope if you use the plus/minus inserts.

I ended up making a little excel spreadsheet that took all the measurements of the rifle, scope, and rings and then made a little picture to show me clearances using info from Brownell’s. Ended up going with Grand Slam rings in extra high so I could keep the rear iron sight on.
