Good hunting today around Regina 18C, sunny and lots of rabbit.
I got 5 in less than 2 hours.

Them bunnies sure look awfully white out there in the flat land.
Ground looks pretty dry too.
Nice haul of rabbits you got there.
Shot size and range??
Rob

I used 7 1/2 cheap trap load. Tried a #4 steel but destroyed a lot of meat. I got all of them at about 15 ft range

Yeah the ground has NO snow around here, never really did this winter.

Always wanted to try rabbit. Heard it was pretty good.

Congrats on your hunt......BUT....By the looks of a few of the rabbits, you might want to consider a little less gun. At 15 feet a 410 or 22 would probably be more than enough gun.

The main thing is you got out the house for sum exercise and had fun .
Plus you save the trip to the grocery store that's a good day

Had rabbit stew for supper. Don't shoot them around here this time of year due to them eating pine needles. They then taste like pine needles.

Nice work! There are no rabbits left in my area. I didn't even see tracks in the winter this year! The coyotes are killing them all.

Invite all your local CGN members to join you for a hunt or two and perhaps your coyote population will take a sudden nose dive. Not just that but you'll likely meet some terrific people while you are at it.

a 410 is my next one probably.
some of them were field dressed already, that is why they look funny. A 7 1/2 with a small load does a great job and if I hit the head only there's no wasted meat

Although we often task our sub gauges for this often close range work, just about any bird gun will do just fine for snowshoehares.

Back in the days of lead, when eastern hunters would only spend cash on one, single shot 12 gauge Cooey fixed full choke, often this same duck gun was employed for hare hunting. Locals merely aimed about one inch in front of the rabbit's nose at normal woods distances. Hence only part of the pattern did the job.
