Bush rifle for 250yds

Gun, something 20 inch barrel or less.
30 caliber and bigger because, sometimes something bigger shows up.
I lean toward levers, but I mostly have bolt action.
Always wanted a 303 jungle carbine, if you can find one, and you can have a conversation peace at the same time. 8x57 will get er-dun,but you have to roll your own to get decent performance. I've cut a couple of 98s to 19", as much as the 98 purest hate to hear of such things. Rair as hen's teeth, but a 350 remington mag is up on my list. Not really a minimum in my books, a little faster than the .358 but, still quite easy on the shoulder. Nobody ever questions the guy that shows up in camp with a .358 blr. All old, tried and true and not right off the popular rack.

Thats spicy! I'm close to the 2600 mark using shooters world ar plus in a p14 but haven't pushed it much further. Primers are getting a bit flat so I backed off a bit.
Realize though, my rifle was a custom build done by a gunsmith very respected in the accuracy and custom build rifle World .
I could probably go a bit faster in fact, but the rifle performs superbly and brass dinensions are standing up well with the load I have now.🙂.

I like the fellas saying my user name would be a good choice, but to hard find, watched some videos on YouTube and with a 85gr copper bullet gives 34" of penetration in ballistic gel in 243 would pretty sweet
6.5x55 Swede hard to find? No.

Tikka still makes great rifles in that calibre. 140 grain Spitzer to 160 RN great for deer to 250yds

My main hunting rifle is a T3x Stainless Laminate in 6.5x55SE. Deer, bear, etc. it's a great rifle/calibre.

Lots of good suggestions already, but I will add the 350 legend to the list. Easily available factory ammo, from 150 up to 180 grain. Its a straight wall cartridge, very light recoil. I have used it as a ground blind gun for deer. Its more than enough out to 200-250 yards. Proven to be very accurate with one shot kills in a savage.

No one has suggested a 25 Creedmoor. I think its a lovely cartridge. Mild recoil. excellent ballistics. Short action rifles can be chambered easily if you have one kicking around that needs a new barrel. There is a fairly wide range of bullets available. You could go 6mm Creed if you want even more mild recoil and even more bullet choices.

Not easy on the shoulder like OP asked for

This past winter I built what I consider to be my version of that - a random Husqvarna stamped 98 Mauser commercial receiver - so probably made by FN in Belgium. A random bolt - probably from a Parker Hale Sporter at one time. A Ramline synthetic stock. Parker Hale Sportarget rear aperture sight welded or brazed to the bolt's cocking piece - a "home made" banded front sight, that was bought from CGN some time ago. Actually, i think all of the bits and pieces were bought on CGN - the barrel is chambered in 7x57 - my intention is to use 175 grain Hornady Round Nose bullets - some of those boxes show same part number, but BEFORE they used the word "Interlock".

What's ammo availability like for the 350? Gun store only? Crappy Tire? Rural gas station or hardware store?

I've greatly narrowed my rifle selection down so I now have a 4570 double for close shots in thick stuff a 458wm for everything out to 200 yards and a Sauer xt s100 in 9.3x62 for a general hunting rifle. 308 in a chassis for hunting from fixed locations. The Sauer in 9.3x62 is a great fast handling rifle and plenty accurate. Being synthetic I don't care if I scratch it. It wears a 1-4x20 optic but soon will wear a 1-8x32 once I get a rail instead of 2 pcs bases
360 buckhammer and 400 legend have both interested me as well

I am in vancouver, and all hunting stores carry it. Below is a partial list link to give a broader sense of availability across canada... This is not a complete list as not all stores are listed.

Federal power shock is very accurate in my rifle.
