Anyone else have this problem? My camera went nuts taking pictures exactly every 10 seconds for over 5 days till the card filled (9999 pics)?! Sensitivity was set to low and there was no foreground motion. Has anyone else dealt with Bushnell Canada customer service? I am very nervous to begin CS relations....

Thanks!

Hey, My cam has been doing the exact same thing. I only put 4 AA batteries in it and it killed them in 5 hours taking 2700 pics of nothing. Done this twice now. I set the camera up in my room to find out whats wrong with it, I find soon as the camera is triggered it will continue to take pictures even when their is no more motion in front of the camera. If I have it set up to take pics every 15 seconds, it will continue to do that until it kills the batteries.

I bought this camera + a bushnell trophy xlt scope from Cabelas at Xmas time. Did you buy the same package? I think these are the 2009-2010 model that bushnell had problems with. I had mine for 2 months before I even tried it out, Can't return it to Cabelas now. I'm going to look into taking it to the warrenty center in Richmond hill Ontario.

Yup exact same package, bought mine Dec 3rd. I called cabelas and they are suppose to call me back. Mine suffers form the same thing. I had a 32GB card and 8 Lithium ion batteries in mine, needless to say it stopped taking pictures at 9999 pictures at 8Mpixels each! I think it is crazy for you to have to spend 10$ to ship it to Richmond Hill and then enclose 10$ for them to send it back, it is their lousy product, it should be on their buck! I hope to just get a replacement and move onto another brand.

I don't have a bushnell, But my camera takes pictures when it's really windy out.
I have 250 pictures last week and when you look at them quickly can see the trees changing positions.

Let me know how you make out. I wonder if anyone else that bought the same package is in the same boat.

Reading online forums a lot of people are having similar problems. It appears as though all of the early 2010 models had this sensor issue. Chasinggame.com actually quit trying to test the 2010 model due to all of the issues they have been having.

Me too! Ok, so it wasn't me and the way we set it up. I'm yanking the batteries, and doing a new set up from scratch. If it works, I'll post it on the forum. That should be a full re-set, but I'll contact Bushnell if the problem persists.

II am currently in talks with Cabelas.ca repairs and returns department, they are thinking they might send out a new unit from the packages if they have any left. Personally, I don't want another one of these 2010 units.

I had the same problem ,on this one the door on the camera was not shut quite tight so the door moves in the wind and takes a picture, after taping the door shut it hasnt happened since, also the door will pop open in cold weather. This was an older Bushnell so not sure if it applies to your camera. I should add that the door will appear to be shut but when you grab the camera you will find the door not shut and you can hear it snap into place.

Well just finished dealing with Cabelas.ca repairs and returns department. They are happy to refund you if you still have warranty with them remaining but if you are like me and sold the scope, you are SOL. This lady was very helpful though. She said she had seen many of these packages coming in and in most case money was just refunded. She got an actual Bushnell REP on the phone for me in 10 minutes and talked to me about a couple things. I won't bore you with the scientific details but basically the passive IR sensor picks up not only motion but changes in temperature moving. AKA a dark branch that is much warmer than surrounding cool air... or anything else that has differential temperature gradients. So all he could recommend was 1) turn down sensor to low in winter 2) rip out batteries in hopes of restarting the sensor 3) Send it in to Bushnell with 10$ Cheque, and they will send you a new one, not the crappy 2010 model either.

So I am going to try these things over night and morning will let me know whether I need to keep it or send it in to Richmond hill Toronto for a new one.

Hope that helps guys.

Same deal here. I gotta send mine to Richmond hill with a cheque for $10+GST for return shipping when its fixed.

my dad has a bushnell scope he wants to return as well, I might just make the drive and drop them both off.

i have had two replaced like this already and a third one sitting on my loading bench i need to send in.

i have never included shipping money and they have never asked. It says it on the website but its their garbage camera to replace...they can ship it back...its bad enough i gotta pay one way.

Might be the cold effecting it..

My scoutguard did this when ever it got cold. Often by Nov I had to put it away. Now its shot. I now use Wildgame IR4's and they do awesome in all seasons.

You may be right, I turned the sensitivity way down on it to low and deployed it overnight. Things have been pretty warm last night and today, and the camera is back working fine. I think the IR sensors in these things are just VERY sensitive and when ambient outside air temperature is cold, dark things like branches etc warm up more quickly, thus tricking the IR sensor. Just a theory.
