first ya have rifles but no barrels ...
then barrels with no rifles ...
then...... .. . .
For the love of pete
shove the 18.5 inchers in there and sell them to us ...
dang nabit
Totally, if it can be bought as gun without a barrel in non-restricted form there would be more sales and when an 18.5+ inch barrel becomes available it can become functional.
Having that rifle in NR form would have them flying out the door. Personally I only plink on my own property without an RPAL, so Restricted is a no-go from the start.
What interests me about this rifle is that it seems to be of AR heritage which are restricted regardless of barrel length. What heritage is this gun from? Is it not an AR type platform?
In all seriousness though, at least they're taking time with the non-restricted barrels and making them work. Did you guys see the clusterf#$%ck that happened with Questar?
Do you mean the T97 Chinese bull-pup from CanadaAmmo?
That situation is completely ridiculous and shows how we have no power when they confiscate, take them to their shop and are able to make them full-auto. If they are douches they say they were full-auto when they received them.
Tavor, IVI and other $3000 bull-pups get the pass, but the affordable one for the common man; nope.
Anyways good call on slowly introducing a new platform restricted for a bit, then add a longer barrel. If there was another one with Questar let me know the gun; I didn't see anything.
edit: Nevermind, saw the SCAR thing. :\
My two cents on the whole 18.5" Questar barrel thing. I owned one of the first NR Questar ACR's and it had a shim problem which Questar, in all their greed, refused to acknowledge. Regardless, I corrected it myself, with a little help from some other CGN'ers. Once that was complete the rifle shot amazing.
I'm of the opinion that Bushmaster will not produce a match grade NR barrel. Yes, they may produce a NR barrel, but they are trying to keep the costs down on a rifle that is very expensive in the US, compared to an AR, which does the same thing. What good is a 18.5" barrel .223 barrel, if its shooting 2" to 3" groups at 100 yds (i.e Tavor, XCR, Mini-14, etc).
I'd want a match grade stainless barrel, that produces results like a Noveske, or WOA barrel (1/2" to 1"). We need a match grade after market producer to do that. Questar's barrels have huge potential, they just need to work through some of their QC issues with their supplier. I'm not a Questar fan, but I do want some of the products only they seem to be able to provide.
I don't know what Tavor you were shooting, but mine sure as hell doesn't get 2 to 3 inch groups at 100 yards even with the crappiest military surplus ammo you can find. A match grade barrel would be nice, but it's going to take awhile as the ACR is too expensive for a lot of Americans to adopt. After the customer service fiasco at Questar, I don't believe they would be willing to continue production of these barrels anytime soon. Bushmaster has already released an 18.5" barrel for the ACR and several Canadian suppliers have said they might be in end of July-mid August. Regardless, having an ACR that is not just a range-only gun would be really nice, and I would be willing to forego sub-MOA accuracy with a stock barrel.

When Bushmaster starts selling ACR's with the Remington upgrades, and their is a match grade 18.5" barrel available, I'll get back in the ACR game. Until then, the sidelines is where I'll be.
Same here. That or the ARX-160.![]()
It's a pitty, as the ACR has more Canadian potential then any other rifle for its NR classification, and AR accuracy potential.
