Bushmaster ACR or Daniel Defence MK18?

Hello all, i'm looking to get into the higher end rifles and I was wondering if anyone here has any insight on which rifle I should dump more cash on as i'm at a standstill.

Neither of these picks are being used for anything professional but simply being a want. I would be looking for something that would last me in heavy range time as I am a range addict and in round count.

For pricepoint I was going to order both from Irunguns and both are similar in prices in USD afaik or i'll wait for a deal somewhere here in Canada or for one to pop up in the EE.

I have done my research on both but i'm still unsure on what I want or what will bring more bang for buck.

Any information will be appreciated thanks!
 
Any ACR you get from IRG will be restricted, though it sounds like that isn't a factor for you. If so, I'd go with the DD. They have an excellent track record and spare parts are readily available. You can easily install a new barrel if you shoot the throat out of your original one. I'm not sure if that's the case with the ACR.

Wolverine is presently sold out, but had the ACR DMR for $3200; the DD Mk18 is available for $2300...

The ACR DMR will cost you more, but is non-restricted if you have occasion to take it into the bush or coyote hunting. That may make it more appealing...

If restricted doesn't matter, then I'd stick with the AR platform personally. Nothing wrong with the ACR (I have one, and it's a great gun) but the AR, especially a higher-end one like DD, is overall your better bet IMHO.
 
I'm with PE and CobraGT.

IMO, if the AR was a NR platform in Canada, there will be no need for anything else except for the urge just to have something different.

Get the DD if it's just a range toy. Stick on a good optic, a Geiselle trigger, a good sling, good LAR mags and a Raptor charging handle and that's all you need for most range fun!
 
The only reason I have non restricted semis is for the only reason that matters:
I'd like to keep my guns
That being said I own as many ARs as my total number of non restricted semis. I love clean ratios like that. It is the balance in the force. Sadly when they come take my ARs it will be the time one will seriously wish he had some non listed NRs.

nothing is as light and easy to use as a well built AR, but here in Canada we must plan for alternatives.

If it was 1981 or if you're an American I'd say get the AR
If you're a Canadian I say get the unrestricted Bushmaster ACR DMR... even Famae Tavor XCR or X95 are worthwhile unrestricted alternatives.

The DMR configuration is heavy but you can reconfigure to reduce weight. The ACR is actually less fussy about ammo than an AR. Basically I just avoid restricted if there's a similar unrestricted option... even at a higher price.

ACR's advantage is non-restricted but that's about it. A Daniel Defence AR is the better firearm.

Just depends how important the non-restricted status is to you.
