Tried to import one from the USA and I got a reply yesterday telling me that it’s been prohibited.

I replied, telling the importer that the ACR was not listed in the OIC and it’s still showing up as NR on the FRT. They just replied right now telling me that every ACR variant is prohibited.

For some reason, Im having a hard time believing it. Can someone please check? I know it’s sold out across Canada, so a vendor wouldn’t be checking it’s status. Maybe it really got prohibited and we just don’t know yet?

Didn’t you hear. All guns are now prohib. May as well be as how is anyone to know this anyways and it would seem vendors are starting g to assume the same.

Live FRT currently says non restricted.

The semi auto ACR is listed as “BACR”.

The ACR is prohibited for being full auto.

The firearm I was trying to import was a basic 18.5” ACR Enhanced .450, they’re all sold out across Canada. Didn’t matter though, the importer told me that it’s now prohibited. I sent them a link to armalytics, but they didn’t care, they told me it’s prohibited.

I had posted the importer's name, but a mod removed it (no, it wasn't IRG)

I told them they're making a mistake & I gave them links showing the exact same rifle listed on several Canadian retailers websites.

They replied saying:

"Thank you for the reply. We did check the FRT for this one, and it shows all variants as PROHIBITED. Sorry, we just can't help with this one."

Sounds like they simply searched ACR, and all those results would be prohibited.

Like I said, the semi auto version is the BACR and does not show up when you search ACR.

It’s non restricted, so try another importer and it should be no problem.

Its a shame mods removed the name as it would be nice to know who to avoid dealing with for being an enemy of firearm owners by way of making up their own frt. Name and shame.

Honesty, this sounds like a simple mistake.
The frt is a giant pile of ####, with spelling mistakes and all kinds of poor search results.

Why does a search for “ACR” not bring up “BACR”?
Why is the civilian semi ACR called a “BACR”?

I don’t think this vendor is making up FRTs or out to get us. Just a simple mistake using a broken system.

I probably won't buy a bushmaster ACR - not because of the ban stuff, but the fact that Bushmaster doesn't exist anymore and getting parts for these things will be an issue. Remington said they will still do warranty, but you have to wonder after a few staff turn over no one will remember how these things actually work or how they are put together. And the fact that the late production runs seem to have lemons.

I was thinking about it back in December and was tempted by the price drop just before the close-out to get a NR, but based on internet accounts these things are not exactly the most durable thing to go around when round count racks up. Splitting gas block, broken charging handle....that sort of things.

Money better be spent on X95 - not the most accurate rifle around but at least they are durable. IWI is not going to stop making X95 for a long while.
