At the request from Blaxsun, here are some pictures of my ACR in 12.5" barrel.

Here is what I have
-Surefire FH
-12.5" Stainless LW barrel
-ACR folding stock and Fix Polymer Handguard
-Aimpoint T-1
-Matech Aimpoint Mount

According to my gunsmith, the barrel was a ##### to install. In regards to the recall, I have ordered another firing pin return spring to fix the problem, now the gun is flawless.

Very nice....
I'm sure people would like your take on how it handles...particularly in comparison to the
"gold standard"...(AR)

Just curious where did the barrel come from?
I take it that your smith had to switch over the gas system? that must have been the PIA? any chance he could do the SCAR?
What kind of coin are we looking at "all in" for all the changes and accessories? (ball park)

That sure changes the look of these,I handled one in the states about a 1 1/2 yrs ago and it was horribly front heavy and just felt chuncky,I bet this helps with overall "feel". I hated them at first but they are now growing on me--sweet looking rig man.

It is a midlength gas system 12.5" barrel and does not require a change to the system once you go to the 10.5" it is reduced to a carbine length gas system and requires the op rod shortened because Bushmaster is not selling the parts. Not much to swap overs as long as the replacement barrel has the standard m4 reciever extension as it comes from the factory just remove the gas block and dissasembly handle and replace on to the new barrel.
Gas port holes are the issue on the replacement barrels to achieve optimum performance. Check with the guys at Questar they have done quite a bit of work on this.

The weight of the gun is still heavy, however, the weight now is evenly distributed. After I fixed the firing pin problem and fitted w/ the 12.5" barrel, this gun actually handle must better than my AR. I am looking forward in getting the SCAR and do a comparsion.

This barrel is a dedicated barrel for ACR with the gas port tuned for the 12.5" before purchasing. My gunsmith simply swap the gas block and install the barrel for me.

Trigger is exactly the same as standard AR trigger, however, I think you can put an aftermarket trigger to it (not sure thou)

The trigger is slightly different in the tail end where it engages the selector all other components are the same except the trigger spring has the tails bent differently to engage the hammer pin due to the fact the entire trigger group sits in a metal box which is removable inside the polymer lower housing. In trying to drop in a two stage trigger just a little bit of tweaking is all that is needed.

I am not sure if this has been asked already , but is the gun available to civy end users in Canada and can it be re barrelled to non restricted ?

Thanks
Ricka2
