I'll pick up a non-restricted one for sure. I don't see why they couldn't be imported, it's a unique design with a bunch of awesome features. I think she'd sell well in Canada.
DOS permission seems to be the problem. However, perhaps we could convince them to do a purpose built canada model called the ASR - Advanced Sporting Rifle, with .223 chamber, fixed stock, and 18.6 inch barrel.
The problem is mostly with the name. ACR stands for Advanced Combat Rifle. The word combat is right there in the name, which will make it all that much harder to convince the US DOS that it is a sporting rifle for export.
With Bushmaster being part of Cerberus I wouldn't count on anything from them anytime soon.
Is it me or is a plastic lower reciever a step back in firearms manufacturing? It's bad enough we went from steel to aluminum... but now plastic?
I don't think Cerberus meddles in this kind of thing but I guess there's some merit in saying that they won't give a flying fvck about the Canadian market.
Semantics. The key word, "combat" is still in there.Actually, Bushmaster ACR stands for Adaptive Combat Rifle. The Advanced Combat Rifle you're referring to is the US Army program to develop a replacement for the M16.
Cerberus is tied to one of the big 3 auto manufactures, who will drop assets like a hot potato if things get any worse, Bushmaster is one of those assets.
