I just got my new Bushmaster ar15 , thus first thing i did was strip and clean
it. I'm new to Ar-15's and teaching myself as i go mostly from internet video';s.
Everything went well I changed the stock from a fixed to a 6 position , and
basic field strip, bolt , bolt carrier etc... everything went well and back together nice.
Today! 1 day after all this, about to head to the range i found a small pin looking part on the desk where I striped the rifle....
That said i skipped my range trip and came here to ask if anyone can identify
this part .. pic below...

Thanks in Advance...

Is it a split pin? if so the only split pins that size are from the trigger guard and forward asset. Its not from the butt assy or bolt.

the pic is not very clear. give us some measurements. Is it a roll pin, did you do a function test ?

the pin is 1 1/4 inch and narrows at one end...
if its for sure not from the buttstock or bolt assy it may be from something else , just wanted to make sure ,
function test 100% working (as i can tell) , bold rack , dry fire , mag in/out
i have no dummy rounds to cycle but if everything else works

thanks for the replies....

I think it maybe from a broken punch or something like that. I fix these for a living, I cannot think of anything that you descibed.
