Guys I'm looking for a spotting scope to take to the rage and look 100/300yards... There is this bushmaster 30/90 for 100 dollars... Does any body have one that can tell me any thing it supposedly retails for 199 but down to 100! Worth it or not?

If you want to see normal bullet holes in a target with a black bulls eye, at 300 yards, you will need a decent spotting scope. I doubt that you will be happy with that CT special.

I have the exact one you are talking about. At 20 yds or so, its ok, I can see .22 holes on a black background. For 100 yds and on, forget it. PS don't drop it...my scope's internals shattered after a roll off the workbench, maybe 3 feet ! (CTC did give me a new one, but it is now kept in reserve for the guy at the range who dosen't have a scope)

Have you seen the one I'm talking about?

I have looked at the crap CT sells, but I was so unimpressed, that I never bothered with the specific model numbers.

There you go.

It was 199... Could it be that bad... Any good story's people, I don't want to spen to much money any other products I should look at!

Guys I purchased it and returned it within an hour... I had to check it out but had trouble getting it to focus at 50yards, not for me but Appreciate all the answers you guys left!!! CGN is the greatest site period..

I have the 20/60 I bought on sale for $49 at CT, I can see .17HMR holes at 50yd on white paper, even some at 100yd. I can see my 300WM holes on white paper at 300yd with it. Just gotta focus it, dont use black bullseye targets so that's probably why it works so well for me. Think I will go get this one tonight and try it out side by side my 20/60.

I bought one of these a month or so ago. The eyepiece was broken when I got home. Took it back and never did replace it. It just seemed a little too breakable.

I grabbed one of the 20-60 ones for 50$ a couple months ago. At that price it was worth the risk, works decent at 40x but no higher, and more importantly it showed me how useful it is to have, and it's worth the money to invest in a GOOD one down the road.

I have the same spotting scope, use it every weekend. Can see .30 cal holes at 150 yards. But that being said the tripod is flimsy and it can be tricky to focus.

But for $50 it does the job. Yeah it's nowhere close to the quality of a namebrand spotting scope but the price more then reflects that.

I picked one up off kijiji for $20. I knew what I was getting, mostly shooting at 50 yards, so it's fine for the price. Any further or more expensive and it's not worth it.

I bought the 20-60 when it was on sale and for the price it's great. You really do get what you pay for and this thing is not in the same league as my buddies $400 spotting scope but it's worked great so far although I haven't been past 50 yards. Like Jon said I now know what a useful tool it is and one day I'll invest in a higher quality one.

When it comes to optics, you more or less get what you paid for.
the problem with many of the cheaper ones is clarity when it is zoomed in..certainly if you are going to 60X
I purchased a Redfield(by Leupold) a few months back at Sail for 300 on a tax free day...
I use it for rifle on the 100 & 200 yard range at my club. Clarity is good at both distances. I have not tried it out at greater distances yet...But I am happy with it this far.
