Okay,

I'd like to get one of these. Price is right. It's FFP and has a horus xmas tree reticle. Also, the mag range is perfect. Cons: it takes 34mm rings.

Anyone have an opinion? The pros I listed above are necessary, for me and my use.

I have been looking for an optic in the ~20x FFP class, and have done a ton of research. Very hard to find negative reviews of the DMR. I'm a bit confused on the updates and changes though - DMR, DMRII, HDMR - does anyone have a resource for that?

Would love to hear about how HDMR compares directly with vortex viper pet gen II.

One thing some people don't like about the DMR is the lack of a zero stop. I really like the locking turrets though. Is this the same with HDMR?

So the DMR and HDMR are the same scope, the HDMR just has the Horus H59 reticle. They both have a 34mm tube and 5 mil locking turrets with no zero-stop.

The DMR II and HDMR II are an updated version of the Gen 1 DMRs. They share the same 34mm tube as the Gen 1 however they have a 10 mil non-locking elevation turret with a super simple zero-stop and retain the locking windage turret. The DMR II comes with the G3 reticle (with or without illumination) and the HDMR II with the Horus H59. Apparently the new glass is better as well although I haven't compared the 2 side by side.

I have the HDMR II and find it perfect for my uses (mainly PRS-type matches). I've become a big fan of the Horus H59, it makes holding over precisely while holding wind so much easier. I can't comment on it's durability as I only have about 3-400 rounds under it so far (I only got it a month ago) but so far so good. I'm currently looking for a second one, haha.

I have the DMR2 (G3 non-ill reticle).

It's a pretty beefy scope.

As per the discussion I had with the tech at Bushnell, the glass should be the same as what's in the 6-24x50 Tactical FFP mil-mil. So it's decent, but not exactly in Nightforce territory.

The zero stop is nice and simple to set.

It seems to track perfectly.

No complaints.

I bought the DMR2 G3 this summer. I've used it for about 200 rounds through my 223 RPR. I'm happy with it.

I only dabble in shooting paper at my range and I don't have experience with other high end FFP scopes.
