Hi everyone...

Just got my new Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x50 (42-6245T) today...

http://www.bushnell.com/general/riflescopes_elite4200_42-6245t.cfm

I took it to the range to do a box test and zero it in... and my question is this...

I shot a 20MOA box at 50 m, but the actual box was 11" not 10... then I shot a 15 MOA box at 100m and the actual box size was 17.75" not 15... the last 3 shots were dead on the first 3 both times (ie perfect box... the diagonals were equal as well)...

Why the bigger boxes?

The scope's minute calibrations on the knobs, don't quite correspond to 1 minute of movement at the target altho its pretty close at 50m . If 17.75 is right, this moved more at 100 yds than at 50m . It should be 16.5 at 100m if your 50m value is correct.. At least I think it should be.

Well, maybe I'll re-do the test... I didn't have a piece of cardboard big enough to do 20 MOA at 100m, so maybe I'll do 15 MOA at both 50 & 100m and see if the difference is at least the same...

Any other thougts?

Did you do the testing at the same power level?

Try setting up a yard stick with large readable numbers at the target sight. Make it 100yds, as most of these values are for that distance. Lock you rifle into a steady rest and watch the reticle move up/down the yard stick when you turn the knob. This should give you exact values of you scopes calibration and you don't even have to shoot any ammo.

Change the power level and test for POI movement at different settings.

Is your range calibrated in yards or meters? If in meters, it'll explain the difference. You're about 10% off which is the difference between metric and imperial range sizes. If you're unsure, measure the actual range before blaming the scope.

That's interesting! I thought all the turrets were calibrated in imperial. It seems to me that the brochures always talk about 1/4" at 100 yards.
