Hey guys, I'm really considering buying a Bushnell Elite 6500. I'd like to hear from the people who own these optics and what they think of them. I'm personally thinking of going with the 4.5-30x50 mil dot because I like the high magnification (many will say it's unnecessary, but I like it). Ill be using it to punch paper and for hunting.

I had one, crystal clear glass, you should be pretty happy with it. Sold it a while ago and got an HDMR and an XRS, but that 6500 series is pretty awesome. Should be able find some decent deals on EE.

I have a 6500 4.5-30x50 Tactical. I will never sell it.

It's heavy, but built strong.
It has good+ glass, obviously there's better.
The turrets are solid with very positive feeling clicks, no wiggle/no play.
The parallax adjustment is labeled for distance and it's pretty much bang on.
The 5 or so years I've had it, it's been 100% repeatable.
The magnification is usable at 30x will no ill effects.
I don't have a bad thing to say about my Bushnell, and if forced to sell, my Sightron would go before the Bushnell.

The Sightron has better glass and is brighter but it's 10-50x60, making my Bushnell more versatile. I've used it for hunting.

I had the 4.5-30×50MM mil-dot. It's glass was very clear and the reticle was easy to use.
I replaced the 6500 with a Sightron SIII and it's an incredible scope especially for the money, costs a fair bit more than the 6500 but it's definitely in a different league.

If that's the same 6500 scope as Wholesale sports was blowing out for $400 I'd stay away. A few friends picked up several on sale with the thought that they couldn't go wrong at that price. At first it was funny watching them try to sight them in; but now its just painful.

I have teh same Elite 6500 4.5-30x50 but with the DOA600 reticle. It's on my .223 bolt gun (5R milspec). It's a good scope for the price, if you get it on sale for a good price. It's not that far from a Sightron S3 which has better glass and ovrall is a better scope. The only real complaint I have with the Bushnell is that once you get to 300 tds or more, the dots in the DOA reticle are like big blobs of goo and cover too much of the target. The Mildot has dots that are a little smaller, but I'd try top take a look thru one at distance before buying if you can. It seemed fine in the store, but once I got it out I was sorry I bought it for distance. I have an S3 on my 338LM bolt gun, and I'm in the process of selling the gun, but will keep the S3 to put on the 5R to use for distance.

Wow I'm suprised how people love them. They are crap. Stay away. I had one and when I changed the magnification the reticle would change zero...... Easily verified this with a bore sighting tool installed. The tracking was not repeatable either. I didn't even try a box test.

Save yourself the hassle and spend a bit more.

Bushnell has some really good scopes you just need to spend a bit more $$$$&

Great scopes for the money. I have the 4.5x30x50 tac on my 308 AAC SD zero issues always tracks great. Another 2.5x16x42 on my TIKKA 223. Clear durable and accurate. Sure there are better but the 6500's are a excellent starting point.

When the 1.25-8x32 6500 went on sale for ~$350 I bought 4 (Hell I might have five, I'd have to go check, chuckle!) and have been VERY happy with them!

Cheers
Jay
