Hi guys, debating wich of both scope is better suited for the 308 I'm buying (bolt action rifle)

I'm onto the AR308 4.5-18x40mm vs the Legend 4.5-14 X 44 MIL-DOT

Good reviews on both, I'd like to have a little more magnification of the AR308 but having tried the legend HD... it is pretty darn clear!

anyone tried both and could vouch for the AR308 clarity?

cheers

Neither have particularly good light transmission, both are fairly inexpensive. They work ok for the money, but you can get a Bushnell Elite Tactical 10x for about the same price, and it has both better light transmission and a better constructed erector assembly.

well considering I liked the legend ultra I might like the Ar308 then... I'm looking in the 350ish scope price range and less. I know that you will have amazing glass in a 500$ scope... I'm debating between those two.. or similar pricing but not more expensive.

Both the Legend and the AR are made in China, so not worth it.
These guys have some deals on higher mag elites.

I have the ultra hd in 4.5-14x44 and it is a very good scope for the money. I have it on my .300 win mag and it holds zero amazingly. I also have a Bushnell 1-4x24 AR optics which is also very clear glass for the money. You can't go wrong with either of them, the AR optics are great.

This thread is awesome! I have been debating both these exact scopes as well. I have an AR Optics 1-4x24 on my AR-15 and a 2-7x32 in my 22LR and like both a lot other than the really stiff magnification ring on the 2-7. I don't have any experience with the legend lineup. I've handled some elite tactical on friend's rifles and was very impressed but I'm trying to stay under $300 and I'd like a bit more magnification that 10x so I'm leaning towards the AR308 right now. I have many other scopes on other rifles including Nikon, NF, Leopold up to my Steiner T5Xi but my budget for this build is on the cheap so I'm looking at these Bushnells. I've looed at bith in store, but I'm just not sure how clear the glass will be at full magnification in real world conditions. For under $300 I guess it's not a huge risk.

BTW, I got a quote this week from plainSight solutions for the AR308 taxes and shipped, all in $292.75.... Good deal!

went with the AR308, paid 299 tax and shipped from frontier

I'd recommend a nice Millett over bolth of those options, if you care to have a look.

Already bought the AR308, being made in china means nothing we'll see how it performs for a small budget optic. I wanted more magnification than a 10x

finally got mine

As some mentionned it is not the clearest of scopes (duh) but for the price tag I can say that I'm genuinely impressed !

Agreed! for the money, it's quite good. At full power, it could be brighter and when you're used to S&B or other high-end scopes, then obviously there is no comparison, but it's a great value scope and built like a tank. I have 2 of them now.
