I just bought a Bushnell Banner 4x - 12x 40mm. When I took the windage adjustment cap off, I heard a sort of "ticking" sound. It didn't take me long to clue in (I work with pneumatics and hydraulics), it was a slow gas leak. I left and came back to it later, but it wasn't leaking. Then I remembered Boyle's law, with a fixed volume, an increase in temperature causes an increase in pressure. So I held it with both hands to warm it up, and sure enough after about 2 minutes it started leaking again. To make sure, I sprayed my fancy leak detector fluid over the area, and I saw the telltale bubbles.
My question is: Is this a problem (I'm pretty sure it is). If so, is it common? Either way, I'm exchanging it for another, I just don't want to get screwed again. It seems like a decent scope, even if it is in the lower price range ($140).
