Bought a Bushnell Banner 6-24 Mildot off a member here (Im not complaining about that) and when I took it out to sight the scope in, every third shot I would have to refocus the scope (everything would be fuzzy and I would have to play with the magnification ring to clear it up). Is there a solution to this?

Im wondering if I can tighten the screw on the magnification ring slightly to alleviate this problem?

I was just told that the Bushnell Banner shouldn't be mounted onto a .308 due to the recoil and that is what is creating my problems. Is this true?

I had a cheap Tasco Varmint mounted onto the .308 before this and 4 boxes of ammo later it never had a single problem.

As far as I know a Banner on a 308 should not have a problem with recoil.
Sounds more like a problem inside the scope that should be fixed or replaced by Bushnell.

i've dealth with bushnells for years, from the dead cheap to the most expensive scipechiefs, and that's NOT normal-tightening the scrw will only make it harder to turn- it has nothing to do with the focus

It doesn't seem normal that the magnification ring should have an impact on what was previously in focus. As long as you are not too close, it should remain in focus despite any slight change in magnification. Is it an AO model? The AO is a pretty sturdy threaded affair, and shouldn't shift either under recoil. I'm guessing, but my guess is something like a lense assembly has come loose inside. Focus should not change.

Sounds like the scope may actually need repair.

I think whoever told you the Banner is no good for a .308 win is seriously exageratting. I've seen them on all kinds of rifles, through 300 win mag.

My dad has a banner on his .308 and it holds zero. Maybe its just the ####ty lenses.:)

Did you focus the eye piece or just the magnification?

I had a 6-24x50 4200 side focus tactical that did the same thing. bushnel crap isn't limited to the low end of the product lineup.

It's said really, Bushnell used to mean Top Quality when my grandfather first bought his Parker Hale .308 Norma Magnum. That scope has been on that rifle since the first moment he bought it and it's only been sighted in ONCE and is still accurate to this day. Hell that rifle and scope sank to the bottom of a lake once when my grandfathers canoe tipped over! Brought it back up and it was totally fine.

What's funny is everyone told me that the Tasco Varmint was a piece of crap and would fall apart on me and even though I got it for free, I should still buy the Bushnell Banner. So far that Tasco has shot rings around the Bushnell.

i would send it to bushnell canada with a note explaining the problem, and i think it cost $10.00 and you pay the postage to them. it should be fixed or replaced!

Thats my plan. Which means I'll have to throw the Tasco Varmint back on so I can head out hunting! Its sad that to hunt I have to take the scope off my .22 and put it onto my rifle

I hope that it's covered under warranty. It was BNIB but I bought it off a member here and not a retailer/dealer.
