Hey guys. I am researching like crazy trying to put together my first rifle but im a little lost.

I purchased a bushnell elite 4-16x40 with doa600 and plan on mounting it on a tikka varmint 204. I found a "DOA600 ballistics table" online that tells me the ammo I will be using is a ballistics class F. I understand that with some of the bushnell rangfinders you can program in this class F and the rangefinder will give a hold over value. OK, easy enough. So how does this all relate to the DOA600 retical? Im lost.

Regards.

Chris

my understanding is that the dots beneath the scope give you holdovers for 200,300,400,500, and 600 yards, this of course depends on rifle and load, as well the marks on each holdover are to help estimate rack size on a deer.

You are exactly right.....but. The give each cartridge a rating from A to F based on ballistics. This can be related to some Bushnell rangfinders but I cant find anything that tells me how it relates to the scope.

I think that chart is a way to look up your rifle/load combo, depending on your rangefinder the combo may be in a different ballistics group. there will be a similar link for each of their rangefinders that have the capability to do the calculations, most if not all of their scope lines have models with the doa 200 or doa 600 reticle. My thought is that its just bushnells way to coordinate the scope/rangefinder combo. If your not using a bushnell rangefinder i think its a moot point, just usethe holdovers on the reticle
