Research for a friend.

Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x50mm Tactical at 750 dollars is this the scope to buy? It needs to have repeatable accurate adjustments and good glass. He doesn't live near a place to go look at a bunch of different models.

He has picked the above model he just wants to know if there is anything else at that price point that is worth going after before he pulls the trigger.

Features he would like
regular duplex or fine duplex (above has mildot and he wasnt to fond of that)
adjustable turrets not capped
6-24 magnafication (or similar) with objective no larger than 50mm
decent eye relief
side focus
waterproof and fogproof
not interesed in used

Thanks

I have one. Its an alright scope. I would have thought it would have more adjustment with a 30mm tube, but it doesn't. Might not be a concern unless he plans to shoot to long ranges.

Have you checked out the Elite 6500 line as well as the Conquest? There are comparable (but better, IMO) models in each of those lineups, and within the same price range.

:agree:and more adjustment range than the 4200. I think your friend may have a hard time finding a scope with target turrets that doesn't have a mildot reticle(just from the little looking I've done) although i could be wrong. Mildots are nice because you can use them for hold overs and unders with out adjusting the turrets. With pricier scopes you can choose/have the reticle switched out ie leupold and proably other higher end, although falcon does have the ml16 reticle which is like the mildot but lines instead of dots.

Would it be worth spending another $200 and getting a 6500 4.5-30 ??

I am looking for a 6.5-20 / 6-24 scope with mildots for my 308 and I keep coming back to the 4200 6-24x50.

I have the 2.5-16x42 6500 model on my 223 and really like it.

I'd also consider the 3200 Tactical 5-15 mildot. I have one as well and probably shouldn't have wasted my money on the 4200 6-24x. I find the 5-15 sharper and easier on the eyes.

I have one as well and its a very nice scope. Do order the 20 moa base if you are doing the 1000 yard thing;) For the price it is a quality item that is very dependable/repeatable. My next one is going to be the 4.5x30 just for the extra zoom at longer distances.

Could look at the following as another option- http://www.mysticprecision.com/htm/scopes.php
